About Emma Stanmore:
Emma is a Lecturer in Nursing at the University of Manchester with both a clinical and research background with an interest in falls prevention and using new innovations to improve healthcare for older people.
Emma’s recent study in Falls and Rheumatoid Arthritis (Funded by Arthritis Research Uk and the Welcome Trust) found that 1 in 3 people with RA regardless of age fall per year and that a 1 year history of falls, taking psychotropic medicines, fatigue and swollen/tender lower limb joints were the best future predictors of falls in this group of patients. Emma’s research is informed by her background in various Specialist Community and Clinical Management roles in the NHS that involved supporting older people to remain independent at home and avoid hospital admissions.
