Implementation of fallprevention programmes (review)

This literature review published in Implementation Science in 2012 examines barrieres and facilitators to effective implementation of fallprevention interventions among community-dwelling older persons and healthcare professionals.

5010 papers were identified among the literature published between 1980 and January 2012, and 19 were included in the review.

Data syntehsis produced these three concepts:

  • Practical considerations
  • Adapting for community
  • Psychosocial
  • These concepts showed that implementation of fallprevention programmes is complex and multifactorial. Successful implementation requires individuals, professionals, and organisations to modify established behaviours, thoughts, and practice.
