About Judith Kuiper:
The Consumer Safety Institute (VeiligheidNL in Dutch) is specialised in injury prevention. Its aim is to reduce the number of accidents resulting in serious injury, in order to contribute to the safety of Dutch citizens of all ages. Linking research and prevention is its strength. It collects accident data and conducts research on how injuries occur and how they can be prevented. To do this, it takes into account behaviour and environment as well as technology. It uses its knowledge to develop evidence-based effective interventions. In this way, VeiligheidNL encourages safe behaviour.
Together with professionals VeiligheidNL developed and implemented several falls prevention interventions for elderly in the Netherlands. Furthermore VeiligheidNL hosts the Dutch Falls Prevention Network which aims to promote effective falls prevention activities by dissemination of knowledge and best practice and support of professionals.
ProfouND Role:
VeiligheidNL will contribute to WPs3,4,6,7 and 8 providing input, feedback and translation on toolkits and best practice guidance, updating website content and supporting ICT Technology for Falls Forum activities. Within WP8 VeiligheidNL will act to disseminate and implement best practice interventions in the Netherlands.
