Essex’s new TUMBLES falls prevention booklet will be launched across the county in September. The booklet is designed to support patients with self-help information on how to reduce their risk of falling but also for use in care homes where they are teaching staff to re-think how/why residents fall and changes they can make to the environment and residents welfare to reduce the falls risk. In Essex they are being used in conjunction with a project called PROSPER, a programme designed by Essex County Council where staff undertake PDSA cycles to change practice. This has proved very successful in reducing falls and more and more care homes are joining the programme.
