About Vicky Scott:
Dr. Vicky Scott is as a Clinical Associate Professor with the School of Population and Public Health in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of British Columbia; Senior Advisor on Fall/Injury Prevention with the BC Injury Research and Prevention Unit and Ministry of Health; and Director of the Centre of Excellence on Mobility Fall Prevention and Injury in Aging (CEMFIA) in the Centre for Hip Health and Mobility.
She is also Chair of the BC Fall and Injury Prevention Coalition; National lead for the Canadian Falls Prevention Curriculum; Principal Investigator of a Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR)-funded controlled trial on fall prevention in home care; co-lead on the development of the Primary Care Fall Prevention program; and project lead on the development of a fall and fire prevention program for First Nation Elders living on reserve. Her key objectives are to conduct original research at the Regional, National and International levels, to facilitate evidence-based best practices and policies for reducing falls and related injuries among older adults in the community and in health care delivery settings. She is a recipient of the 2007 CIHR Knowledge Translation Award.
