About Bex Townley:
I work for two different organisations. Half of my week is spent working for the local authority and in partnership with the health board and therapy teams in developing evidence based exercise pathways for frailer older adults (Otago and PSI) and also stroke survivors and people living with long term neurological conditions. My role includes supporting a team of specialist instructors, service development across the county of new projects increasing exercise opportunities for ‘hard to reach’ groups. I deliver specialist group exercise sessions in community venues and also work 1-2-1 with people in their homes. The other half of my week I work for Later Life Training as a tutor and assessor delivering nationally endorsed training courses to exercise professionals and health professionals across the UK. When Im not working, I can be found walking up hills or on my mountain bike in the forest. I live in lovely South Wales where it mostly rains, but is well worth the wait when the sun comes out.
ProfouND Role:
I shall be leading on the the cascade training delivery for WP5 alongside Dawn Skelton and my friend and colleague Dawn McLean. Across my two job roles described above I have extensive experience in the implementation of evidence based exercise interventions, and ‘teach the teacher’ training in the UK. Humour and enjoyment are my key ingredients for a successful and productive training environment. It shall be a challenge to ensure our English humour translates across the borders of Europe !
